Star player White hails difference-making SSFC Women display

Player of the match Ellie White says she was “dead chuffed and happy” to have been recognised for her two goals against Hartlepool United for South Shields Women.

The standout player started for the first time since Barnsley FC in January, and she was easily chosen as the award-winner for her top-draw performance.

“To come into the starting 11 again and score two goals made me dead chuffed and happy that I could make a difference in such an important game for the team,” she said.

Head coach Alex Miller said after the game that she put in a “first class” display and selecting her was justice for all of the hard work she puts in behind the scenes “each and every week.”

White was delighted with the positive words and it only serves to remind her about what can happen when things click, as an individual but also as a team on the field.

She added: “It feels lovely to be noticed for the work I put in behind the scenes and it just felt great to be on the pitch with the girls who support me throughout!

“I think it was a good team performance which allowed us to bounce back from the week before which was definitely needed.

“Now we need to just focus on each game as it comes and keep working hard to get the results we deserve.”

Although the lasses have a week away for Easter, they are back in action on April 7th against Wallsend BC. It could prove to be a promotion six-pointer - as they all are - because half of the division is so tightly packed.

She continued: “With us being at home for the next four big games we have; it’s massive for our fans to get down and help spur us on as it really does help us keep pushing!”

Follow the team’s social media channels to get some inside insight about how the team gets on. It would make such a difference for the team to get as many fans as possible at home as the promotion fight heats up.

Every point and game counts now so it’s more important than ever!

Keep an eye out for further information about venues, which will be confirmed closer to matchday.
