SSFC Women play Leeds Modernians in NERWFL League Cup Final hoping to make history

South Shields Women hope to make history this Sunday when they take on Leeds Modernians Women in the NERWFL League Cup Final (2pm kick-off).

The Mariners reached the Final after defeating Birtley Town Ladies 2-1 just over a fortnight ago, while Leeds Modernians knocked out Bradford City AFC Women on penalties last week.

To get to this stage, Shields have been victorious against Wallsend BC Women, Spennymoor Town Ladies, Sunderland West End Ladies as well as Birtley Town.

Leeds Modernians, the current leaders of the NERWFL Southern Division, received a number of byes before winning out against York City Ladies Development, and Bradford City.

The stage is set for what could be a memorable 90 minutes of football at Norton Sports Complex, between two sides hoping to get their name on the trophy for the first time.
