Rescheduled Wallsend BC match up next for SSFC Women

The games keep on coming for South Shields Women, who take to 1st Cloud Arena this Sunday for the rescheduled game against Wallsend BC Women (2pm kick-off).

Visitors Wallsend head into the tie winless in four (in all competitions) while the Mariners are in good form, having won their last three matches.

However, there is no room for complacency since the promotion fight is getting tighter with each game - Shields are currently two points off top spot with four games left.

A win for Wallsend would put them level with the Mariners, although Shields have a far better goal difference.

This Sunday's game aims to highlight Arthur's New Land Mariners Marathon as well as Children's Cancer North, with donations being collected on the gate.

Alex's thoughts

Head coach Alex Miller firmly believes that the team's big win against the Moors last week has lightened the mood in training, and everybody is fit and raring to go on Sunday.

She said: The mood has been extremely positive in training this week.

"Everyone has been on a high from the well deserved result against Spennymoor.

"For me, it’s been really encouraging to observe how much that result meant to the lasses and the overall impact it’s had on the morale of the team."

The visitors have stuttered as of late and have not won in a month but Miller knows very well that the unexpected can happen, so her team needs to be ready for that.

"Wallsend have proved that they’re a strong team through the season, and we can’t take too much from their most recent result," she added.

"We know too well from our own experiences that unexpected results do happen.

"We need to be prepared for everything they’re going to throw at us, as they will definitely feel they have a point to prove.
