Match Preview: South Shields v Spennymoor Town

South Shields return to the 1st Cloud Arena for a local derby against promotion-rivals Spennymoor Town.

The Mariners play their third game in six days against fellow North East outfit Spennymoor in a play-off six-pointer.

Elliott Dickman's Shields currently sit sixth in the Vanarama National League North whilst the Moors sit eighth, with just a singular point separating the two sides.

Shields have collected maximum points from their last four games, including two within the space of three days.

A late Paul Blackett winner away at Chester on Saturday and then a 3-0 triumph over Banbury on Tuesday night has the Mariners in high spirits going into the derby.

Spennymoor are in good form themselves, winning 10 of their last 12 games in the National League North including wins over Darlington and Scunthorpe.

A win would keep Shields in the play-off places and could rise as high as fifth if Boston United were to lose their game against Peterborough Sports.

The game will also be the 400th South Shields appearance for Robert Briggs who has been at the club since he was 18.

Team News

After suffering an injury at Banbury, Dillon Morse is ruled out of selection. An update on Morse will be given as development continues.

Information for Supporters

The game will be segregated between home and away supporters.

Visiting Spennymoor supporters will require a ticket to gain entry to the 1st Cloud Arena, which can be purchased online via our website.
