Toby Onanaye signs for the Mariners

We are delighted to announce the signing of Toby Onanaye upon the expiry of his contract with Leicester City.

Toby signed for The Foxes at Under-11's level and spent 8 years at the ex-Premier League Champions. He would go on to feature at Under 18 and Under 21 levels, becoming a regular in their Premier League 2 campaign, as well as the National League Cup.

Toby had his first taste of senior football after experiencing his first youth loan last season with Kidderminster Harriers in the Enterprise National League North, scoring once in the FA Trophy.

The 19-year-old becomes our second summer signing and describes himself as a box-to-box midfielder with a solid engine who likes to get on the ball and drive forward.

Toby would go on to add:

"I'm really happy to be here. The style of play that was presented to me was really good, something I would suit and see myself flourishing in."

After being asked about his career so far with Leicester City, Toby added:

"I had a lot of great experiences there, learning the basics, but also working and playing a longside top coaches and top players"

"I went out on loan last season, so it was a good opportunity to dip into the senior game, getting comfortable playing in front of fans, being in a men's changing room, it's very different, but I relished that experience."
