SSFC Women visit Sunderland West End in second meeting in two weeks

South Shields Women are hoping to bounce back from last week’s defeat when they make the short trip to face Sunderland West End Ladies in the NERWFL Premier Division (1:30pm kick-off).

Becki McMahon’s second-half header wasn’t enough as Spennymoor Town Ladies completed a comeback to win 2-1 - firstly from the spot, and secondly from close range.

It is a result which leaves Shields eighth in the league table with six points to their name after five games.

This weekend’s hosts, meanwhile, find themselves in 11th place with 0 points on the board, after a three-point deduction was handed to them earlier in the season.

Last time we met

The two teams faced each other in the DCFA Women’s Challenge Cup Quarter-Final just two weeks ago, and it was a resounding 6-1 win for the Mariners - watch back the highlights here.

“We are really hungry for some goals and I think we have something to prove, so [I'm] looking forward to another great result.”
