SSFC Women to play rescheduled Fleetwood Town Wrens tie

South Shields Women play their rescheduled Adobe Women’s FA Cup Third Round Qualifying tie against Fleetwood Town Wrens this Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The game had been postponed over the weekend, meaning the lasses have had another week to prepare for the challenge.

On Monday, the draw for the First Round Proper was made, with the winner of this match facing AFC Fylde Women at home on Sunday, October 26th.

The hosts are winless in seven games in the NWRWFL Premier Division, although they brushed past seventh-tier side Colne FC Ladies to reach this stage of the tournament.

Shields, of course, came back from 3-0 down against Alnwick Town Ladies before winning on penalties, just under three weeks ago.

Last time out in this round

Shields were 3-1 winners in the Third Round Qualifying stage last season against FC United of Manchester Women, who play in the same division as this Sunday’s opponents.

Natalie’s thoughts

Natalie May spoke to us earlier in the week to discuss a host of topics - here’s her preview ahead of this weekend’s game.

“We’re all really looking forward to the FA Cup game on Sunday," she said.

“It’s our first time coming up against Fleetwood, so we’re not entirely sure what to expect from them, but the focus is very much on ourselves.

“We’ve been in good form recently, and if we stick to what we’ve been doing well and play with confidence, we’ll give ourselves a great chance.

“It’s an exciting challenge and one we’re ready for.”

Amber Robinson said: “I think we're really improving as a team and getting to know each other a lot better, which was shown with the win on Sunday.
