SSFC Women relive Hartlepool "memories" ahead of away trip

South Shields Women take on Hartlepool United Women this Sunday - and it is the perfect time to look back at the lasses’ biggest win of the season to date.

They put nine past the Pools in front of 161 fans at 1st Cloud Arena en route to a record 9-0 win, and a handful of the team have shared their favourite moments from that day.

Meg Archbold

“For me the biggest stand out moment was scoring; it was my first and only goal of the season and it’s such a good feeling to be able to celebrate with the girls.

“We were all on such a high that day and it’s a privilege to be able to celebrate a monumental win like that with such a brilliant group!”

Jaz Elliott-Wood

“Last time out against Hartlepool was my first ever game at 1st Cloud.

“The build up to that game was massive for me, I was overwhelmed with nerves and excitement, I didn’t know what to expect. “

Stepping out onto the pitch I just wanted us to put on a performance to remember and that’s what the team did, scoring nine goals definitely gave the crowd something to cheer about.

“The memories are something that will stick with me for a long time, the whole day was just amazing, and to top it off I scored one of my best goals there too!”

Eve Gatens

“Getting the chance to play at 1st Cloud is always a great experience, especially scoring four goals in front of the home supporters.

“When there’s a good atmosphere it does help spur the team on and gives us that extra push during the game.

“Last time out it was a great team performance all over the pitch and we’re hoping for the same again this weekend.”

Zoe Norton

“The togetherness is definitely something that stands out from that game - everyone fighting for each other and contributing from all areas of the pitch.

“The team photo was just a spur of the moment to be honest, I think someone just suggested it when we got in the changing room and then everyone wanted to, so it happened.

Ellie White

“I think for me what stands out is how together we were as a team and how much we all enjoyed playing together which obviously showed in the result, so hopefully we can bounce back and do that again!”

Jen Wootten

“Last time we played Hartlepool it was great for the team, it gave us a lot of confidence throughout the squad and was something we built on as a team and individually.

“Hopefully we can take the feelings from that game into this week playing them away from home.”

The penultimate away game of the season will be played at Grayfields Sports Pavilion (TS24 8PJ) for a 2pm kick-off.

We’d love to see you all there as the lasses look back to brush off last week’s heavy defeat with a positive result!
