SSFC Women quartet praise "lovely" new away and keeper shirts

South Shields Women’s Ellie White loves the team’s new yellow away strip this season.

She took part in the kit launch ahead of its reveal on Friday and she offered some behind the scenes insight as to how it all came about.

“I found out about the kit launch when Michael [Gowans, the club’s General Manager) asked me if I was free to go down to help with the away kit reveal and I couldn’t miss it!” she said.

Fans can expect to become acquainted with the new shirt over the coming weeks and months.

The team’s first pre-season friendly takes place on Sunday, July 28th against Washington FC at Northern Playing Fields (2pm kick-off).

It could be the first chance to see that kit be worn  - and White is clearly a big fan!

She added: “The new kit is lovely and I think all the girls will like it.”

Training will begin in just a couple of weeks ahead of another testing NERWFL Premier Division campaign.

The division is tougher than ever this season and The Mariners will look to build upon their 44 points finish last time out but it won't be easy.

Recently-relegated Chester-le-Street are expected to be in the mix for promotion, as well as the challengers from last season.

“I can’t wait to get back training and for pre-season to start,” she continued, “to be back working hard with the lasses and preparing for the season to start.

“I think it’s going to be a very competitive league and we need to make sure we’re on it from the get go!”

The three other players to be involved in the launch were Alex Miller, the head coach, Alliyah Ali and goalkeeper Scarlett Gowans.

Gowans said: “The new keeper kit is my favourite one yet since being at the club.

“Both the home and away kits are very smart, with some eye-catching details. I can’t wait to get started this season and wear the new shirts!”

Miller shared: "It’s completely different to any Shields strip we’ve had before!

"The colours contrast in a great way, so we’ll definitely stand out from the rest."

And Ali commented: "The away shirt is absolutely brilliant; the colours are vibrant but also the burgundy represents the club.

"I can't wait to play in this kit!"
