SSFC Women host Spennymoor Town in the NERWFL Premier Division

South Shields Women return to NERWFL Premier Division action after a three week wait, with Spennymoor Town Ladies the visitors on Sunday (1:30pm kick-off).

It has been a productive few weeks for the lasses, who have progressed in both the NERWFL League Cup and DCFA Women’s Challenge Cup with their wins against Wallsend BC Women (3-1) and Sunderland West End Ladies (6-1) respectively.

While that is exciting for the team, the focus immediately shifts to the league, where Shields have only played four games - the joint-fewest in the division.

The Mariners suffered a heavy 7-1 defeat against the Moors in the opening game just two months ago, so they will be looking to avenge that result with a positive display this weekend.

Tianna’s thoughts

We caught up with Tianna Hill this week to look ahead to Sunday’s First Team game - here’s what she had to say.

“The girls are really looking forward to the game this weekend.

“We’re coming off of a good performance this past Sunday where we showcased some good passages of play which led to a high scoring match.

“Spennymoor is having a good season at the moment so I’m hoping that we can take the positive energy and enthusiasm from our previous game and carry it with us throughout Sunday.”

It will take place at Grayfield Sports Pavilion (TS24 8PJ).

Jade Sanders commented: “Looking forward to it; with last week's game being cancelled, it has given us time to reset and recharge.

“Hoping to be able to come out and get another three points.

“It's going to be a tough game, both physically and mentally, but we are all ready for the challenge and ready to go.”
