South Shields Women host Ossett United Women this Sunday in what will be their penultimate game in the league (2:30pm kick-off).
It is the lasses’ last home match in the NERWFL Premier Division, and they will be looking to end the season on a high note following recent difficult results.
While there is next week’s NERWFL League Cup Semi-Final tie at home to Birtley Town Ladies to look forward to, attention fully remains on the task at hand this weekend.
Sunday’s visitors suffered a 4-2 loss last time out against Brunsmeer Athletic Women, while Shields head into the game following a 4-1 defeat against third-placed Alnwick Town Ladies.
Last time we met
Shields travelled to Ingfield Stadium in November and gained three points on the road - watch back the match highlights from that game here.
Alex and Ryan’s thoughts
First Team Head Coach Alex Miller, as well as Reserve Team Head Coach Ryan Young, both looked forward to this weekend’s action - watch their pre-match previews here.
Kylie’s thoughts
We caught up with Kylie Scarpiello, who has enjoyed a run-out in the First Team lately following a spell with the Reserve Team earlier in the season.
She said: “I’m feeling great about this weekend!
“The confidence is building with each practice; I believe this will be an exciting game!”

Reserve Team
It is the Reserve Team’s penultimate game of the league campaign too, and they are at home to Horden CW Women - the very first team they played as a group back in September.
The result didn’t favour them that day, but they will be hoping to prove a point this time around.
Kick-off at Harton Welfare (NE34 0NA) is at 2pm this Sunday, April 26th and entry is free.
Amy Flowdy said: “The Horden game is a must win for us in order to achieve the stronger table finish we want.
“The team understands this and we continue to work hard together each and every game.”
