Please note that the First Team's match against Fleetwood Town Wrens has been postponed - keep an eye on our pages for any future updates.
South Shields Women make the three hour trip to Fleetwood Town Wrens this Sunday hoping to secure a spot in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup First Round Proper (2pm kick-off).
If the Mariners pick up a positive result at the weekend, they will reach the First Round Proper for the second season running, after the lasses made the Second Round Proper last season.
Shields face a Fleetwood Town side who are winless in the league, having lost all seven of their matches up to this point, however they convincingly defeated seventh-tier outfit Colne FC Ladies 9-1 to get to this stage of the tournament.
Last time out
Watch back the highlights from last week’s 4-0 thrashing of Wallsend BC Women in the NERWFL Premier Division - Annece Legg scored all four goals during a second-half blitz.
Sophie’s thoughts
Co-Head Coach Sophie Clough discussed Sunday’s game - watch the pre-match interview here.
Eve’s thoughts
Eve Gatens spoke to us in the run-up to this weekend’s cup tie and here’s what she had to say.
“Looking forward to the game on Sunday, and will be another good test for us as a team to see what we’re capable of, and hopefully come away with a positive result and into the next round of the cup.”

Reserve Team
After last week’s 4-1 defeat against table-topping Horden CW Women, the Reserve Team will be hoping to have a positive reaction this time around when they visit Waldridge Park Lumley.
Kick-off at North Durham Academy (DH9 0TW) is at 2pm this Sunday, October 5th.
Jai Savage said: “I’m really excited to get back on the field with the girls on Sunday.
“Last week was the first time some of us had ever played together, so we were all just adjusting to one another.
“If we can start off the way we played in the second-half, I’m sure we can get the ball rolling and do something special.
“Regardless of last week’s result, I really enjoyed playing football again - especially with such a great bunch of lasses and coaches - and I can’t wait to see what we can all do together.
“And regardless of the result, we all left the changing rooms last week positive and ready to right our wrongs this week.”
