Match Preview: Tamworth v South Shields

South Shields travel to newly-crowned champions Tamworth in the penultimate match of the Vanarama National League North season.

South Shields look to build upon their 7-0 win on Saturday against bottom-placed Bishop's Stortford.

Paul Blackett's hat-trick and Dylan Stephenson's brace helped Shields cruise past Stortford and return the Mariners to the play-off places.

Opponents Tamworth secured promotion to the Vanarama National League on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Warrington Town.

Tamworth's main man is without a doubt Kyle Finn, racking up 14 goals and five assists in 39 games this season.

Despite being crowned champions, the Lambs have only one win in five games, a 3-0 win over Bishop's Stortford.

When the sides last met in November, Jordy Mongoy's second-half goal was the difference as Shields came out on top.

Victory would see the Mariners climb as high as fifth on goal difference, replacing Alfreton Town.

Elliott's Thoughts

Elliott Dickman has remained positive about the run-in after a mixed bag of results.

Speaking after Saturday's win, he said: "It's one game at a time for us.

The Mariners Head Coach still believes that it will be a challenge regardless of if they are promoted or not.

"Congratulations to them, but we've got our job to do.

"We've got to go there and play like we did [on Saturday], if not better.

"The focus has to be making sure that we go down there and get three points because that's what we have to do."
