Match Preview: South Shields FC v Southport FC

South Shields seek to gain their 19th win of the season on Tuesday night, where they grace the 1st Cloud Arena for the 2nd time in 3 days for a midweek clash against Neil Danns Southport FC. 

The travelling sandgrounders come to the Mariners home turf beaming with adrenaline and optimism fresh off the back of a chaotic 3-2 away win to Bedford in which Southport’s Jordan Slew stole the three points in the 92nd minute. 

Dann’s Southport currently sit in 19th place in the league with 27 points from 26 games. The visitors have won 6 games in the league so far, with half of these coming away from home, travelling fans hope that they can kick-start a winning run of form at the 1st Cloud Arena.

Southport’s danger man, no doubt, is Slew. The forward netted the winner in his last outing putting his goal tally to seven in the league this season.

In comparison, Watson’s Mariners come into the fixture extremely confident, having won in their last outing 3-0 dominantly against Leamington FC. 

In this dominant display from the Mariners — superstar striker Paul Blackett picked up Shields third of the afternoon, a 20th in the season for himself.

Saturday’s performance meant Shields picked up yet another three points boosting their tally to 59 for the season. The mentality for Tuesday night however would remain the same for the Mariners — pick up another three points.

The Club Shop, stocked with our new 25/26 Home and Away kit and Goalkeeper kit, located in the Wolf Competitions Stand near Turnstiles 1 and 2, will be open from 6PM – KO, Half-Time, and from FT – Close. 

PARKING 

Limited, unreserved parking is available on Shaftesbury Avenue. It is recommended to arrive early to secure your place. More parking is available on Bedesway, with access via Turnstile 5.

The nearest Metro is Bede, a five-minute walk to the Turnstiles.
