Ian Watson has confirmed that Dan Ward will miss the rest of the season due to the injury he sustained during Saturday's fixture against Curzon Ashton.
On Saturday, 7th March, South Shields prevailed to a 3-0 victory against Curzon Ashton; however, midfielder Dan Ward left the field in a lot of distress after just 17 minutes due to an injury in the 80th minute of the game.
When asked in the post-match interview about Ward’s injury, manager Ian Watson said: “I get a little bit emotional when talking about it (the injury) because he is the best guy ever.
“He supports everyone off the pitch, he puts the team before himself all the time."
“I could stand here and say words about him but you wouldn’t know what he’s like until you're in the group, in the team."
“I think smudge (Martin Smith) did a little talk about him and just said that he’s the best teammate he’s ever had and I think anyone that’s played with Wardy (Dan Ward) would see that."
Watson went on to add that: “What’s important now is that we get around him and support him.
“This is so important to us.” We’re a family, so when one of us hurts, we all hurt."
“It gives us another incentive to go and do well for him.”
Ian Watson later confirmed in his preview for our upcoming game against Chorley that, after having a scan, Dan will miss the rest of the season.
We wish you all the best in your recovery, and we're with you every step of the way, Wardy!
