Zoe Norton joins SSFC Women

Zoe Norton has become South Shields Women's fifth signing of the season.

The former Durham Women youth player is reunited with Mariner Jaz Elliott-Wood, who was Matt Gatiss’ first signing as head coach in July.

Former Consett Ladies duo Erin Taylor and Becca Emery joined the ranks as well as Ebony Longstaff, who was promoted from the SSFC Foundation programme.

Norton won Durham Women’s Under-23s Players’ Player of the Year award in 2021-22 and despite interest from a host of other teams, she has chosen the Mariners.

Head coach Gatiss said: “For a player of Zoe's calibre to choose our club over a host of other options shows the project that we are building is attracting the top talent, and Zoe's versatility and quality will certainly be an asset for the season!"

Norton is in line to make her first appearance for the club this Sunday when Shields take on fourth-tier side Norton Ladies at Norton Sports Complex (TS20 1PE) for a 2pm kick-off.
