SSFC Women to get pre-season underway

Matt Gatiss’ first match as head coach of South Shields Women takes place this Sunday against Gateshead Ladies at Harton Welfare (2pm kick-off).
New signings Jaz Elliott-Wood and Erin Taylor are in contention to make their first appearances for the club as the Mariners test themselves against local opposition.
Supporters are welcome to attend free of charge on Sunday to support the lasses.
Pre-match thoughts
Gatiss said: "Pre-season has been progressing well, with four weeks of hard work from the squad as we develop and work towards our identity and philosophy.
“This group is the most talented group of players that I have worked with, and full credit to the whole group for adapting very quickly to a new approach to the game.
“Gateshead will be the first opportunity for us to test this new style in a match environment, and pre-season is solely there to learn and hone our skills and bring the concept to life.
“We have consciously looked for opponents throughout the summer who will provide us with all kinds of different challenges, and we can't wait to get out for that first whistle.
“We are also still working behind the scenes to bring in a couple of new faces, and hopefully we will have some more news on signings over the next couple of weeks."
