South Shields Women host Washington FC Women in the DCFA Women’s Challenge Cup Preliminary Round this Sunday (1:30pm kick-off).
The lasses will be hoping to continue their good run of form, following last week’s progression in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup and recent positive results against Wallsend BC Women and Alnwick Town Ladies.
This week’s focus, however, is Washington, who visit Harton Welfare in the hope of advancing to the Quarter Final stage.
Washington have had a storming start to their NERWFL Northern Division campaign, with three wins from three games to leave them top as things stand.
It will be the second meeting between the two sides this season after August’s pre-season friendly, which ended 2-0 in Shields’ favour via a Jen Wootten brace.

A win would take the Mariners into the Second Round - kick-off at Whitworth Park Academy (DL16 7LN) is at 1:30pm this Sunday, October 19th.
Demi Pine said: “As a team, we are building up confidence and are having some good chances every weekend.
“We’re working better with the position of the ball and playing more as a team.
“I am excited for the County Cup for us, South Shields Women Reserves, for this coming weekend.”
