South Shields FC are delighted to announce the loan signing of Ashton Mee from Stockport County.
The 18-year-old midfielder arrives at the 1st Cloud Arena from the SkyBet League Two champions on a season-long loan.
Mee appeared for County in the EFL Trophy last season, assisting in a 3-1 victory away to Salford.
"I'm buzzing, as soon as i got the phone call saying that South Shields were interested, it was a bit of a no-brainer.
"It feels like a perfect move for my first loan."
Mee made his professional debut aged 17 against Leyton Orient in 2023.
"I've heard about the Club, it is a promising club.
"I spoke to [Elliott Dickman] about up and coming players coming through at this Club, and he said it's a really promising Club for that.
"Lots of young players get their chances and that is something that obviously persuaded my decision."
Mariners boss Elliott Dickman spoke highly on the young midfielder's arrival.
"We are delighted Ashton Mee has joined us on a season long loan from Stockport County.
"Ashton has really impressed us when watching him play, as well as speaking with him over the summer in preparation for him coming to the Club.
"He has shown maturity beyond his years and we are excited that he has agreed to join us to help continue his development as a player.
"Ashton is another really good addition to our squad for the season ahead."
