Chibueze joins on loan

We are delighted to announce the signing of Chinonso Chibueze on loan from Stoke City until January 2027.

The young winger started his career with West London-based Fulham, before making the move to Cobham Training Ground with Chelsea FC at under-10's level. Chibueze would spend eight years with The Blues before moving to Stoke City in 2024, linking up with their Under-21 squad, where he would go on to make his professional debut on August 26th 2025 in the EFL Cup against Bradford City in a 3-0 defeat, Chibueze playing the full ninety minutes.

A regular in the Potters' academy, Chinonso played 20 games in the Premier League 2 last season, scoring 4 goals and registering 1 assist. Chi's most recent games came against fellow National League North side, Chester FC, coming away with a 1-0 victory, and Chibueze being the man to net the winner in the 77th minute.

A player on the fringe of first-team football with The Potters, Chibueze has featured on the bench twice for Stoke City in the Championship, once in 2024 against Hull, and most recently in March 2026 against Ipswich.

Chi added,

"I’m delighted to sign for the club, as soon as I heard about the interest, I was buzzing to sign. The style of play suits me down to a tee, and I watched a lot of last season, so I know how passionate the fanbase is. I’m a fast, energetic winger who likes to get on the ball and score goals, and I can’t wait to show the fans what I can do."

Chi will wear the number 22.

Welcome to South Shields, Chi!
