Eva McDonald has admitted "it's the right time" for her to rejoin South Shields Women.
The young player returned to the club over the winter break, following a spell at fellow NERWFL Premier Division side Wallsend BC Women, after she initially left the Mariners last year.
But she thinks it is the perfect moment to pick up where she left off.
“I left Shields at the back end of last season on good terms,” she explained, “and both Alex [Miller] and Sophie [Clough] always said the door was open for me, and now it’s the right time to come back.”
The squad had undergone a significant transformation since she was last at the club, with a host of new players from the South Shields FC Women’s International Academy linking up.
And since a Reserve Team was formed at the start of this campaign, that has only added to the element of surprise, but she is managing to settle in with the others, both old and new, comfortably.
She continued: “I’ve settled back in well; a few familiar faces always makes it easier and everyone else has been really welcoming as well.”
McDonald could make her second debut this weekend when the Mariners host newly-promoted side Brunsmeer Athletic Women in the league - the team’s first game in over a month.
She said: “I’m really excited to play for Shields again as it is always a privilege wearing the claret and blue shirt.”
The team is hoping to compete - not only in the NERWFL Premier Division - but in the cups too, where two trophies remain on offer: the DCFA Women’s Challenge Cup (Semi-Finalists) and the NERWFL League Cup (Quarter-Finalists).
McDonald is determined to help play a part to make the season an overall success.
“I’m really looking forward to the second-half of the season and I’m really excited to play with the team again,” she finished.
Kick-off at Ford Hub (SR4 0RW) for the match against Brunsmeer Athletic is at 2pm this Sunday, January 18th. Read the match preview on Friday for the full match details.

Great to see Eva returning to SSFC Women at this stage of her career. You can really feel how much the club means to her, and that kind of connection brings a different level of commitment and leadership. Players who come back with purpose and maturity often make the biggest impact; strong, focused, and determined, like a gorilla with a bow, calm but powerful when it matters most. Wishing her and the team a successful season ahead.
Don't think wacky flip is a simple game. It's only simple for professional players who practice more each day.
I am always checking how sites perform on different devices and luckyboys.co.uk is a winner for me. It loaded perfectly on my older laptop which usually struggles with modern graphics. I think their optimization team did a fantastic job here. In my opinion this level of accessibility is what makes a site successful in the long run. It is very impressive.
My story is simple: I was bored during a long train delay and decided to try something new on my phone. I remembered seeing beonbet-uk.com mentioned in a comment section earlier that week. What stood out was how smoothly it worked on mobile, which matters when you’re killing time. I played small stakes, lost a bit, won a bit, and eventually ended up ahead enough to buy dinner. It felt casual and human, not stressful, which is rare for online casinos in the UK.
