This Saturday sees Ian Watson’s Mariners travel to the Marine Travel Arena to take on Bobby Grant’s Lilywhites in a clash which could take the hosts to seventh place or see the visitors gain a further three points, and one closer to promotion.
The leaders of the Enterprise National League North, South Shields, seek to pick up their 20th win this season and hope to replicate the last outing between the two sides, in which Watson’s Mariners came out on top in a 1-0 victory.
The hosts sit in 10th place with 37 points, a win at home against the league leaders could then push Bobby Grant’s side to the play-off position.
Grant will be looking at Finlay Sinclair-Smith, Marine's second top goalscorer this season to aid his side to victory. The midfielder featured in the reverse fixture however, was unable to score, since then Sinclair-Smith has gone on to score five goals and be a crucial player for Marine.
The visitors currently sit on 62 points from 27 games, having won their last outing thanks to a late smash-and-grab 1-0 triumph against Southport FC.
The goalscorer in this decisive late victory for the Mariners was none other than Sonny Finch, who made his first start for the club, putting the cherry on top of his fabulous appearance with his 83rd minute strike.
