LUKE WOOLSTON SIGNS FOR THE MARINERS

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Middlesbrough defender Luke Woolston until January 5th.

Formerly at Sunderland's academy setup, Woolston joined Boro and was made part of the Under 15s group, and in 2024, signed a three-year deal, keeping him at Middlesbrough until 2027.

Luke was handed the opportunity to train and travel with the senior squad, and former Boro manager, Michael Carrick, had named him among the substitutes on three occasions.

By the 2021/22 season, Woolston was a key figure for Boro’s Under-18 side, making 17 appearances and scoring two goals. One of those goals — a superb free-kick against Everton — even earned him a nomination for the club’s Goal of the Month.

That season of promise was rewarded in May 2022, when Woolston signed his first professional contract with the club.

The three-year deal was a clear vote of confidence from Middlesbrough.

Luke will wear the Number 27 for Shields!
