We are delighted to announce the signing of 29-year-old midfielder Ethan Robson from Carlisle United on loan for the remainder of the season, subject to FA approval.
Joining Sunderland AFC from the age of 8, Robson worked his way up to the Men's First Team, signing his first professional deal in 2014, before leaving during the 2019-20 season, after spending 16 years at the Black Cats, making 9 league appearances.
Robson has gained experience across the EFL and National League, featuring for Blackpool, Milton Keynes Dons, Carlisle United, and Gateshead.
During his time at Blackpool, he scored his first goal for the club in the EFL Cup against Leeds United U21's, before spending the 2021–22 season on loan at MK Dons, where he made regular league appearances.
He returned to MK Dons permanently in 2022, remaining with the club for two seasons. After signing for Carlisle United in 2024, injury limited his early involvement, before he joined Gateshead on loan in March 2025, making an immediate impact by scoring during the run-in.
Welcome to the Mariners, Ethan! 👊

Hey there, I saw a couple of threads where people in Australia were sharing their experiences with different online platforms, so I decided to look into Mateslots for Australian players myself. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first and honestly my first session didn’t go well — I lost a few small bets and even laughed at how unlucky it felt. I took it easy, didn’t rush anything, and kept my play modest. After a while, one round finally balanced out what I’d lost earlier, which felt satisfying in a low‑pressure kind of way. It was interesting to read about others’ experiences and then see how things actually played out for me here in Australia.
