Jen Wootten has urged her South Shields Women teammates to “bounce back stronger” after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Spennymoor Town Ladies.
The Mariners took the lead in the 68th minute through captain Becki McMahon, before a quickfire double in the 78th and 80th minutes turned the game on its head.
It came as a particularly harsh blow according to Wootten, who felt the lasses had performed well in the circumstances, but nevertheless she recognised the need to learn from the result.
“I think we were the dominant side and played some good football on a difficult surface, so it’s frustrating to lose when you feel you’re the better team,” she said.
“They took advantage of our mistakes so we have to put those things right and bounce back stronger.”
One thing of note from a Shields perspective was that McMahon scored her third goal in only two matches, following her brace against Sunderland West End Ladies previously.
Wootten was full of praise for the defender, who managed to score a well-timed header during the second-half.
She said: “It’s great seeing Becki score!
“It’s always good seeing her get her reward for working hard and pushing on up the pitch.”
Wootten also highlighted some positive aspects and lessons for the team to take into future games.
“I think we can take away positives from passages of play where we dominated in possession and the team worked hard," the midfielder continued.
“There’s just some things that need tightening up so we don’t get caught in those vulnerable positions.
“However, we won’t dwell on it and we will fight again next weekend.”
The lasses visit Sunderland West End next - a team they thrashed 6-1 less than a fortnight ago - in the hopes of securing three lucrative points in the NERWFL Premier Division.
She finished: “We will take the positives from our last few games where we’ve shown dominance against teams, especially in the final third.
“It’s always a good match against West End so everyone is up for it.”
Full match details for our game this weekend will be shared in due course.

Hey everyone, I discovered Monopoly Casino after seeing someone mention it in a late-night football livestream chat. Normally those chats are full of nonsense, but several uk were discussing games there without sounding fake or overly dramatic. I ended up trying it during a rainy evening at home and stayed online much longer than planned. Funny enough, after a terrible losing streak earlier that week, I finally hit a decent win that covered my losses and improved my mood instantly.
I ended up hearing about this platform in the UK while waiting in a queue at a late-night takeaway, where two guys were joking about their “lucky recoveries” from the evening before. That curiosity stuck with me, so later I tried Bountyreels at home while just relaxing with music on. The first thing I noticed was how quickly everything loaded and how easy it was to move around without getting lost in menus. I had a rough start where nothing really went my way and I almost stopped early, thinking it wasn’t my night. Then a sudden shift in the session completely changed the direction and brought things back to a positive point. I stayed longer than planned just because the…
Cheers everyone from the UK. I found katanaspin-gb.co.uk after seeing people talk about it in a Reddit thread about online gaming during rainy weekends. Since the weather outside was miserable anyway, I thought I might as well see what the fuss was about. What kept me interested was how easy it was to jump into different games without waiting around forever. I had one session where every spin seemed determined to empty my balance and I was literally about to quit. Out of nowhere, though, a feature round kicked in and turned everything around within minutes. I actually laughed because ten minutes earlier I’d been telling myself I’d never use the site again. Instead I ended up staying online until after…
Hello everyone from the UK. My introduction to Ocean Breeze Casino happened in a pretty random way — I noticed a guy playing on his phone while waiting at the barber shop and asked him what kept him so entertained for nearly an hour. Later that night I looked it up myself and ended up staying online much longer than planned. I liked that everything felt easy to use without needing to click through endless pages. During my first proper session I had a streak of losses that nearly convinced me to stop completely. Then one lucky round suddenly pushed me back into profit and I spent the next few minutes laughing at how quickly the whole mood changed. The funny…
Good evening everyone, I came across Jackpot Charm after seeing a discussion about favourite slot games under a sports article from the UK. Somebody casually mentioned they’d had a surprisingly good run there after nearly giving up online gaming. That made me curious enough to try it myself. What stood out immediately was how easy everything felt to navigate. I started slowly because my recent luck had been awful, but eventually a few solid wins turned the entire session around and saved the night completely.
