On Saturday, 19th July, we will welcome Shildon AFC to the 1st Cloud Arena for a pre-season friendly.

Ian Watson's Mariners are fresh out of their first pre-season game against Sunderland AFC, a fixture in which they suffered a 4-0 defeat to the newly promoted Premier League side.

Chris Hughes brings his side to the 1st Cloud Arena looking to bring valuable minutes to his squad ahead of the Northern League Division One season.

The last time South Shields played Shildon AFC was last pre-season when the Mariners came away with a 2-0 win.

MANAGERS THOUGHTS

'Firstly I would like to thank you all for such a warm welcome before the Sunderland game, it was amazing to experience such support.

The Sunderland game was a perfect opportunity for me to see where the players were after only two weeks of working together.  Physically I felt we showed great levels and we played with an intensity through out the game.  The staff and myself were so proud of how much courage the boys played with and how positive the body language remained through some difficult moments in the game.  It was clear to see the boys are all in with how we are going to play this season and that is such a powerful thing so early into our journey together. 

We have some great challenges coming up,  starting with Shildon who I know are going to be well coached and well organised.  This game will come with different challenges to the Sunderland game but I expect us to approach the game with the same professionalism and intensity as we did Sunderland.' 

OPENING TIMES 

Turnstiles 1/2 & 5/6 are open from 12.30pm. Main entrance is open for box holders at 12.30pm

There is no segregation in place and pay on the gate is available

CLUB SHOP

The Club Shop, stocked with our new 25/26 Home and Away kit and Goalkeeper kit, located in the Wolf Competitions Stand near Turnstiles 1 and 2, will be open from 12.30 pm – KO, Half-Time, and from FT – Close. 

PARKING 

Limited, unreserved parking is available on Shaftesbury Avenue. It is recommended to arrive early to secure your place. More parking is available on Bedesway, with access via Turnstile 5. 

TRAVEL 

The nearest Metro is Bede, a five-minute walk to Turnstiles.
