SSFC Women make trip to The Brewery Field to face Moors

South Shields Women make the trip to The Brewery Field to face Spennymoor Town Ladies this Sunday for yet another promotion six-pointer (2pm kick-off).

The top six teams in the NERWFL Premier Division are separated by only three points now, after most of the games last weekend were postponed due to the weather.

Spennymoor were propelled into third place when they managed to hit Harrogate Town Women for six - their game was the only one to go ahead in the division.

This will be the third meeting between the Mariners and the Moors this season. Spennymoor knocked Shields out of the League Cup back in August with a 3-0 win, but the table was turned when Shields did the same to the hosts in the County Cup.

New arrival Liv Mole could make her Shields debut against her former team as well.

Alex’s thoughts

Head coach Alex Miller says Spennymoor are a good side and have many in-form players, but the biggest challenge this Sunday is that the same can be said for the Mariners.

She said: "Spenny is a good team. I went to watch them last weekend after our game was called off and they looked really strong.

"Definitely quite a physical side who are good from set pieces and corners.

"So it's one of those ones where we're going to be building ourselves up for that but making sure that we're still sticking to our normal routines too.

"They've got a few players that's really in-form at the minute but so have we, so it's definitely going to be an interesting game."

Information for supporters

Kick-off at The Brewery Field (DL16 6JN) is at 2pm this Sunday, March 17th.
