SSFC Women host Park View in first home friendly

ree

South Shields Women finish their pre-season preparations this Sunday with a home game against Park View AFC Women (2pm kick-off)

Shields will play their first home game, after three successive visits to Chester-le-Street Town Ladies, Durham PGA and Washington FC Women, against the newly-renamed side.

Park View, formerly Chester-le-Street United, compete in the NERWFL Northern Division (tier 6), just one division below the Mariners, and they finished in a respectable fourth place last year.

The visitors have played against Middlesbrough FC Women U23s and Norton Ladies Reserves so far this pre-season.

With the Mariners being out of league action - following York RI AFC Ladies’ withdrawal from the NERWFL Premier Division - this match gives the team the opportunity to get minutes into the legs ahead of next week's season opener.

Jen’s thoughts

We caught up with Jen Wootten, the brace scorer last time out, ahead of the Park View friendly.

She said: “Having a weekend off always feels weird, so it’s good to have a game this weekend.

“It gives us a chance to put in final preparations ahead of the season and it makes sure we are on the front foot.

“I’m looking forward to another run out, especially with it being at home; hopefully we will have some supporters down too!”

Exciting to see SSFC Women host Park View in their first home friendly! The energy around the team feels fresh and full of pride—kind of like rocking a Lions Starter Jacket, bold, classic, and packed with spirit.
