Match Report: Liversedge 0-1 South Shields

Michael Woods struck the only goal late on as South Shields battled to a 1-0 win at Liversedge in the Pitching In Northern Premier League on Tuesday.

Woods notched with 11 minutes remaining in West Yorkshire as the Mariners followed up their Emirates FA Cup triumph over Scunthorpe with another victory and clean sheet in the league.

They were certainly made to work for it by their newly-promoted hosts, but Shields’ battling qualities, desire and fitness levels shone through in the closing stages to see them take maximum points.
