Match Preview: Spennymoor Town (A)

On Good Friday, the Mariners take the trip to the stadium as they clash with derby rivals Spennymoor Town.

The hosts come into the game unbeaten in their last six outings as well as netting 11 goals in their last five. Spennymoor too, now find themselves level on points with Scarborough Athletic - who have the 7th place play-off position currently. Manager Tommy Miller will then will be hoping for his Moors to extend this unbeaten run on Friday night.

In comparison Ian Watson’s Mariners go into the tie fresh off the back of back-to-back home wins, so too then the visitors travel to the Brewery Field full of confidence.

One-to-watch

If the Mariners are to come away from the Brewery Field with all three points, the source of their success could come to their powerhouse up-top, Lennon Wheeldon. Wheeldon showed an immense mix of strength and explosiveness when he opened the deadlock inside 39 minutes against Alfreton Town.

Similarly, the hosts have their talisman, who too is in incredible goalscoring form. The hotshot Glen Taylor has netted 22 in the league this season, with three coming in his past three games. South Shields then will need to keep a strong eye on the 35-year-old centre-forward.

Last time out

The reverse fixture was one which saw the hosts dominate from start to finish, with them netting six by the full-time whistle.
