Mariners to lift Pitching In NPL trophy after Saturday's game

South Shields will be presented with the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division title after Saturday's game against Warrington Town at 1st Cloud Arena.

The Mariners clinched the championship with two matches to spare after beating Whitby Town 1-0 on Monday.

They now have the opportunity to celebrate their success in their final home game of the season.

Following the game, the players will leave the pitch for a short period, during which time many of the club's army of volunteers and staff will be introduced to the crowd and take their place on the pitch.

They will form a guard of honour which the players and backroom staff will walk through on their way to the new stand, where the trophy presentation will be made.

The players and staff will then return to the field to perform a lap of honour, when they will show their appreciation to the club's supporters for the outstanding backing they have provided throughout the season.

We urge all supporters to remain off the pitch at all times, to ensure the players and staff can enjoy the celebrations they have earned over the last nine months. The trophy lift and celebrations may be curtailed if this is not adhered to.

All connected to the club are hugely looking forward to the game, which will be followed by the sold-out awards evening in the marquee. The Alum Ale House bar in the Carmeleon Clubhouse will be open until 8.30pm for those without presentation night tickets, and the 1888 bar in the new stand will remain open subject to demand.

Tickets for the match are available by clicking here.

The club can also confirm that a minute's silence will be held before the game to honour the 97 supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster on April 15th, 1989.
