South Shields face an Emirates FA Cup trip to Shildon in a repeat of last season’s first qualifying round tie.
This time the sides will meet in the second qualifying round of the competition after they navigated difficult challenges on Saturday to progress.
Shields twice came from behind to beat Workington 3-2 while Shildon also overcame a deficit to defeat Penistone Church, scoring in the final minute of each half in a 2-1 victory.
The Mariners’ second trip to Dean Street in a little over a year will be held on Saturday, September 17th, and is expected to kick-off at 3pm, providing it is not selected for live coverage via the BBC’s red button service.
Admission information will be confirmed in due course.
Shildon provided a big test for Shields last season, but goals from Conor Tee, Darius Osei and Blair Adams steered the Mariners into the next round as they won 3-1.
The Railwaymen have since had a change of manager, with Daniel Moore departing to take the reins at Hebburn Town. He was replaced in the hotseat by former Crook Town boss Jamie Tunstall.
Shildon have progressed through two rounds to reach this stage, having beaten Newcastle Benfield 4-2 in the preliminary round, and are 17th in the Pitching In Northern Premier League West Division with three points from four games.
