Jota: SSFC Women "very united" in Wallsend BC win

ree

Asia Jota says that South Shields Women put in a “very united” performance against Wallsend BC Women on Sunday.

The lasses won 4-0 in a result which secured the team’s first win of the NERWFL Premier Division season.

“I thought we played very well today and were very united on the field,” she reflected after the game.

“I definitely believe we should have had at least one, if not more, in the first-half with how much we were dominating.”

The first-half was full of chances for Shields but they were unable to put any away, in part due to some outstanding goalkeeping by Wallsend’s Charlize Gutierrez.

Things improved drastically in front of goal following the restart, as Annece Legg scored four goals in just 22 minutes to turn the game on its head.

Jota is full of praise for her teammate, who put in an outstanding shift out there.

She added: “Her goals were amazing; being able to score in so many different ways within the same match just shows her ability to put the ball in the back of the net.”

And with the Adobe Women’s FA Cup trip to Fleetwood Town Wrens fast approaching, getting a positive result under their belts in the week prior should serve the team well in the days to come.

“This game was very important for us moving forward,” she finished.

“Especially with the FA Cup this coming weekend, it gives us a good push into this coming week.”

Details for the Third Round Qualifying match against Fleetwood Town will be confirmed shortly.
