Tianna Hill was pleased with the “impact” she made despite South Shields Women’s chaotic defeat to Brunsmeer Athletic Women at the weekend.
The forward was brought on, following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, for the second-half and contributed with one assist as the lasses looked to claw back a three-goal deficit.
It wasn’t to be, despite the Mariners netting four times after the restart, but nevertheless Hill can look back on a positive 45 minutes in what was otherwise a game of two contrasting halves.
“Yes, it definitely was,” she agreed.
“Not our best start to a game, but the effort and goals we produced in the second-half were a better testament of our quality.”
Her impact was immediately felt once substituted on, and the South Shields FC Women’s International Academy player was rewarded with the Player of the Match accolade for her efforts.
Hill continued: “It felt great to be back on the field, not only for me but for the team.
“The girls have given so much these past few weeks, so being able to share the pitch with them, even with it being the last game of the season, meant a lot.”
Her assist, which fed through Connie Graham as she scored her first goal out of two on Sunday, carried Hill to her 19th goal contribution of the season (12 goals and seven assists).
Such a feat can only be met by Annece Legg, who has also recorded 19 goal contributions this campaign (13 goals and 6 assists).
“Very happy with how I played,” Hill reflected.
“First minutes I’ve had in over a month, so I just wanted to go out there and try to make as much impact as possible.
“Also, really happy to add an assist.”
The lasses must put in the hard work at training this week if they are to bounce back against Leeds Modernians Women in the NERWFL League Cup Final this Sunday.
“Yeah, totally!” she finished.
“I believe that we can take the lessons from yesterday’s match and use them as motivation to prep ourselves for the Final.
“I think ending the season with some silverware will be a well-earned reward for all the hard work and challenges we’ve had to endure this year.”
Details for this Sunday’s game against Leeds Modernians will be shared on our social media channels soon - keep an eye out for them!
