Ewan McGowan Signs First Professional Contract

South Shields youngster Ewan McGowan has signed his first professional contract with the Club.

The 18-year-old was made part of the Senior squad by Manager Elliott Dickman for the upcoming season.

McGowan is an Academy graduate and will remain at the 1st Cloud Arena until 2025 with another option for the Club to extend a further year.

Dickman - who has trusted in youth since his appointment at Shields - was pleased to add McGowan to his side.

"We are delighted that Ewan McGowan has agreed his first professional contract with the Club, it is a really special and proud moment for him and his family.

"With the backing of Geoff, Lee and everyone at the Club, we are thrilled with the continued success we are achieving from our young players.

"It is always a huge positive when we see one of our young players break through into the first team squad.

"A special mention is needed to all the coaches within our academy programmes, especially Paul Robinson and Kris Thackeray, who are doing an excellent job working with our U16-U19 players.

"Ewan will step up to the first team and be alongside a number of other academy graduates, Will Jenkins, Sam Hodgson, Joao Gomes, Dan Savage, Kyle Seymour and James Sloan.

"Our development of young players and the opportunities we are giving them is something that our academy squads should be looking at.

"We want them to aspire to be the next player to make that step into our first team environment."

This is really great news, Ewan has finally signed his contract, it's a pleasure for me to see him in the team, I won't miss a single team game after this, I'm usually someone who spends time at home and I like to play games like basketballlegends, reading such good news and playing games makes me feel good.
