Goalscorer Madison Bouggess can look back on a “really special moment” as she netted her 10th goal for South Shields Women’s First Team in their defeat to Alnwick Town.
The South Shields FC Women’s International Academy forward was delighted to grab her 11th goal of the season - after scoring once for the Reserve Team - and take away what was a positive memory for her despite the final outcome.
“It’s a really special moment for me to get my 10th goal, and I’m so happy about it!” she exclaimed.
“But I couldn’t have done it without my teammates; they’ve been incredible and push me to be my best every single day.
“They deserve a lot of the credit.
“It’s a proud moment, even if the result wasn’t what we wanted, and it just makes me more excited to keep improving and hopefully add a few more before the season ends.”
Although Alnwick Town came out swinging during the second-half, it could be argued that the Mariners looked the better side initially, and on another day, the scoreline could have been much different.
Bouggess reflected: “There were many positives in the Alnwick game, especially from the first-half.
“I thought we showed real resilience and worked so hard for each other, and we looked the better side for long spells.
“It’s disappointing how it went after the break, but we’ll learn from it together.
“We’ve got such a great group, and I really believe this will make us even stronger going forward.”
Shields appear to be locked into sixth place in the NERWFL Premier Division standings, but this season has been full of positive moments in other competitions.
The lasses look forward to their NERWFL League Cup Semi-Final tie at home to Birtley Town Ladies next week, while they can reminisce on their adventures to the Semi-Final of the DCFA Women’s Challenge Cup, as well as the 1st Round Proper of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
“It’s been such a positive season when I look back on it,” Bouggess stated.
“Reaching two Cup Semi-Finals and the FA Cup First Round shows how far we’ve come.
“I’ve genuinely loved every minute of the experiences I’ve had at Shields and especially the people I’ve shared it with.
“The teammates and staff here are amazing, and it’s a great place to be.
“There’s still a lot to play for, and I’m really excited about what the future holds for this group.”
Details for this week’s game at home to Ossett United Women will be shared soon - keep an eye on our social media channels for the latest information when available.

Really interesting take. I’ve been exploring relationship astrology tools like synastrychart lately—it’s fascinating how two birth charts interact.
Madison’s 10th goal was a standout moment for the team! Navigating the ups and downs of the season takes patience, much like completing an arrow puzzle. Proud of the resilience shown and excited for the cup semi-final!
